“What he is doing right now is brilliant” - Thierry Henry’s old comment about striker linked with Arsenal resurfaces amid transfer rumors
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke this summer. Following the reports, Thierry Henry's old comments on the former Liverpool and Chelsea striker have resurfaced.
The Gunners legend heaped praise on Solanke earlier this year for the form he showed with Bournemouth. Speaking to Amazon Prime Sport, Henry felt that Solanke was finally getting into his groove and fulfilling his potential. He said:
"Dominic Solanke, the way he is playing at Bournemouth. Not only him, the team is doing extremely well, but we have been waiting for him to be that player. I guess it was a bit too much when he was younger. But what he is doing right now is brilliant. I am happy for him because he did struggle for a little bit. Now he is looking good."
Arsenal are said to be on the lookout for a striker this summer. They are reportedly set to go head-to-head with Tottenham Hotspur for Solanke. The Gunners turned their attention towards the former Chelsea star after finding a deal for Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres unlikely.
Arsenal urged to sign to sign former Chelsea star
Arsenal have been urged by talkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist to sign Dominic Solanke this summer. The Gunners are in need of a striker to get them over the line after finishing second in the league in back-to-back seasons.
Ally McCoist urged the Gunners to sign Solanke earlier this summer. He believes the striker will do well at the Emirates. He said:
"Move. All day. I look at Dominic Solanke, and I think right now he is an unbelievably rich vein of form. That might not last. Therefore, he might not get another opportunity to move to a club like Tottenham or a club like Arsenal. If he gets the opportunity to move to a club like that, for me, it is an absolute no-brainer. He has to move."
Solanke scored 19 goals in 38 Premier League matches last season, while also assisting thrice. He has now caught the attention of Tottenham and the Gunners while some reports claim that Chelsea were also keeping tabs on him.
