"When are they going to understand" - Real Madrid star's wife hits out at Carlo Ancelotti after AC Milan loss

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde's wife Mina Bonino has slammed manager Carlo Ancelotti after the 3-1 loss to AC Milan on Tuesday (November 5) in the Champions League. The Uruguayan started the game in the unconventional right-wing position but was replaced by Eduardo Camavinga at the break.

Los Blancos went behind in the 12th minute, with Malick Thiaw giving the visitors the lead at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, Vinicius Jr. won a penalty and equalized for the LaLiga giants from the spot in the 23rd minute.

Real Madrid went behind once again through Alvaro Morata, six minutes before the break. Federico Valverde, who lost two of his three duels, had a poor outing and was ultimately hauled off, as Ancelotti made changes before the start of the second half.

It mattered little as the Rossoneri scored their third through Tijjani Reijnders in the 73rd minute. Valverde's wife Mina Bonino was least impressed with the decision to play the Uruguayan on the wings.

Sharing her thoughts on social media, Bonino reminded Los Blancos that her husband is a midfielder, not a winger.

"Fede plays best as a pivot. When are they going to understand that he is not a winger?" Bonino wrote on X.

Valverde has appeared 16 times across competitions this season for Real Madrid, registering three goals and two assists. He was also used on the right wing in the 1-0 defeat to Lille in the Champions League last month (October 2).

Real Madrid have lost three games across competitions this season. Thibaut Courtois missed all of them due to injury.

The Belgian was sidelined for most of the last campaign with an ACL injury and returned in the final weeks of the season. Andriy Lunin covered admirably for Courtois last season and was called into action again last month.

The 32-year-old picked up an adductor injury in October and missed the game against Lille in the Champions League. Los Blancos lost the game 1-0.

Courtois returned briefly against Celta Vigo (October 19) in the league and Borussia Dortmund (October 22) in the Champions League, with the LaLiga giants winning both games. However, the Belgian aggravated his injury and has since been sidelined.

In his absence, Real Madrid played two games and lost both. They were defeated 4-0 in the league by Barcelona on October 26. The defeat to AC Milan this week means that Carlo Ancelotti must get his backline in order soon.
