"When he retires, he will be known as one of the best coaches in history" - Real Madrid star heaps praise on Carlo Ancelotti
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois recently hailed Carlo Ancelotti as one of the best coaches in football history. He heaped praise on him and referenced his achievements at multiple clubs over the years.
Ancelotti has achieved a lot over his managerial career, which stands at almost 30 years now. He's the manager with most UEFA Champions League wins with five - two with AC Milan and three with Real Madrid. He also won it twice as a player. He was also the first manager to win the league title in each of Europe's top five leagues.
In a recent interview, Thibaut Courtois heaped praise on Ancelotti, saying (via Madrid Xtra):
“I truly believe that Ancelotti is one of the best coaches of all time, he has shown it in all the clubs he has been at. When he retires, he will be known as one of the best coaches in history.”
Ancelotti has had immense success with Real Madrid over his two spells so far. He first arrived in 2013 and helped them win the much-awaited 10th UEFA Champions League title.
After his departure in 2015, he returned in 2021 and has won two more Champions League trophies, among other honors. He's signed a new contract with the club, which will expire in 2025.
Carlo Ancelotti on Kylian Mbappe adapting at Real Madrid
Los Blancos finally signed Kylian Mbappe earlier this summer after years of transfer saga. He left Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and joined the Spanish side on a free transfer. After his announcement, he went on vacation after featuring for France at UEFA Euro 2024, where they lost against Spain in the semi-finals.
Mbappe recently joined Real Madrid in training and Carlo Ancelotti is pleased with his arrival. He said that the Frenchman will have to adapt to the club like other players have but he's happy with his quality. The Italian said (via Managing Madrid):
"First of all, he is going to bring his quality as well as his composure, attitude and dedication. He is going to have to adapt for this team as everyone has had to. We are very happy he is here because he has great qualities and, I'm sure, given his personality, he will adjust quickly.
"Everybody at Real Madrid is very happy he is here: the fans, the club, the players, the team-mates, the coach. We are all very happy he is here. We're sure he'll do very well."
Mbappe is likely to make his debut for the Spanish giants in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta on August 14.
