"When Spurs win a trophy, then you can come back!" - Paul Pogba to Tottenham fan when he claimed Spurs were better than Manchester United
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba gave a blunt reply to a Tottenham Hotspur fan who claimed that the Lilywhites were better than the Red Devils. Pogba told the fan that his claim would only hold water when the north London side wins a trophy.
The France midfielder appeared on a live YouTube stream alongside popular American YouTuber IShowSpeed. When the Spurs fan claimed that they were better than United, Pogba replied:
“When you win a trophy…you know for the past two years United won a trophy, a cup, at least, so they celebrate. When you do that, you can come back.”
“I didn’t say they’re better, I didn’t say they’re worst. But when you do that, with all the respect, now I can say they’re better. When you a trophy you can call back, and i will say Tottenham are better,” he added.

Tottenham Hotspur last won a trophy in 2008 when they defeated Chelsea to lift the League Cup (then known as the Carling Cup). Manchester United, on the other hand, won the EFL Cup in the 2022-23 season and the FA Cup in the 2023-24 season.
Pogba, meanwhile, enjoyed two spells at Manchester United. After leaving as a teenager in 2012, he returned to Old Trafford four years later. In his second stint, the 31-year-old won the UEFA Europa League and EFL Cup in the 2016-17 season.
During his time with the Red Devils, he played against Tottenham nine times and provided three assists. The 2018 World Cup winner has been away from football for the past year after a ban for a doping offense. He is set to return to action by March 2025.
How have Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur fared this season?
The two clubs have had contrasting performances this season. Manchester United have had a poor start, securing only three wins from 10 league matches.
In the Europa League, the Red Devils are yet to win a game, recording three consecutive draws against FC Twente, FC Porto, and Fenerbahce. These poor results eventually led to the sacking of Erik ten Hag.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have been decent across competitions. Ange Postecoglou’s side has five wins from 10 league games and has won all their games in the Europa League.
The Lilywhites are seventh in the league standings, whereas Manchester United are 13th, seven points above the relegation zone.
