“Where is Musiala?” - Alvaro Morata taunts Germany star while introducing Spain teammate to crowd during Euro 2024 celebrations
Spain captain Alvaro Morata taunted Germany attacker Jamal Musiala during La Roja's Euro 2024 victory celebrations. They were crowned champions on Sunday, July 14, after defeating England 2-1 in the final.
However, during the celebrations, Morata recalled Spain's 2-1 win against hosts Germany in the quarter-final of the tournament. In particular, he jogged the memory of fans to Dani Carvajal's performance against the aforementioned Bayern Munich forward.
Taunting the 21-year-old attacker, who was often operating in an inside-left channel for his country at Euro 2024, Morata said (via URFRESHTV SPORT):
"The Pitbull, where is Musiala? The greatest RB in the world... Dani Carvajal."
The Real Madrid defender was brilliant in the competition for Spain and is also being spoken about as a potential Ballon d'Or candidate this year. In the match against the Germans, Carvajal recorded a 90% passing accuracy and made two tackles and four interceptions.
However, he did not complete the match as he was sent off deep into extra time, and as a result, missed the semi-final against France. Overall, the 32-year-old made five appearances in this year's European Championships, bagging a goal.
Before joining up with Spain for this competition, Carvajal won the UEFA Champions League and the La Liga title with Real Madrid.
Jamal Musiala among 6 players to share Golden Boot at Euro 2024
Germany's Jamal Musiala shared the Euro 2024 Golden Boot award with the likes of Harry Kane and Dani OImo. Dutchman Cody Gakpo, Ivan Schranz of Slovakia, and Georgia's Georges Mikautadze were the others who shared the honor after scoring three goals.
While the number of assists racked up by these players would've served as a tie-breaker, UEFA decided to award the prize based on goals alone this year. Had the players' service for teammates been taken into account, Olmo would have won the Golden Boot, thanks to his two assists.
Musiala, meanwhile, finished with three goals and no assists for Germany. However, he only made five appearances in the competition as opposed to Kane (7) and Olmo (6).
Gakpo also had the luxury of playing six matches, given the Netherlands reached the semi-finals.
