Which games will Bruno Fernandes miss for Manchester United as he picks up red card? Reporter provides update

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is set to receive a three-match ban after his sending-off in the game against Tottenham Hotspur. Old Trafford hosted the Premier League clash on Sunday, September 29. The Red Devils were reduced to 10 men after the Portuguese midfielder committed a foul in the first half of the tie.

Bruno Fernandes became the first Manchester United player to be sent off in a game this season and picked up his first red card since joining the club. The 30-year-old caught James Maddison just below the knee. He left referee Chris Kavanagh with no choice but to send him off after 42 minutes.

Manchester United will be without their captain for three games unless they successfully appeal his sending-off. BBC reporter Simon Stone has detailed that the midfielder will miss games against Aston Villa away, Brentford at home, and West Ham United away.

Bruno Fernandes will not be a part of the Red Devils' Premier League squad until after the international break due to his suspension. The game against Villa is on October 6, Brentford is on October 19, and West Ham is on October 24.

Fernandes has been a regular for Manchester United since arriving at the club from Sporting CP in January 2020. The Portuguese has played 241 games for the Red Devils, 165 of which have come in the Premier League. He's registered 79 goals and 70 assists across competitions for them.

Following his sending-off against Spurs, Bruno Fernandes handed the captain's armband to defender Lisandro Martinez. Erik ten Hag immediately sent on Mason Mount in place of Kobbie Mainoo, who appeared to have picked up an injury.

Brennan Johnson continues rich form with goal against Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson continues his fine form for his side with a goal and an assist in the game against Manchester United. The Welshman scored for a fourth successive game to set his side on their way to three points.

There were just three minutes on the clock when Tottenham, who were without captain Heung-Min Son, took the lead at Old Trafford. Dutch defender Micky van de Ven ran straight through the Red Devils backline before squaring for Johnson to score his fourth in as many games.

Following the red card to Bruno Fernandes late in the first half, the former Nottingham Forest man turned creator less than two minutes into the second half. His cross into the box was deflected, allowing Dejan Kulusevski to double his side's lead and put them in complete control. Dominic Solanke turned the ball into the back of the net in the 77th minute to kill off the tie.
