Who is Angelina Zabarnyi? Meet new Premier League star’s fiance who has expressed strong stance on Ukraine-Russia war
Angelina Zabarnyi is the partner of Premier League club Bournemouth's latest signing Illya Zabarnyi. The Ukrainian is a degree holder in philology from the Kyiv University. Angelina has been dating Illya for over three years now.
Angelina is also a proud Ukrainian and has put "Glory to Ukraine" in her Instagram bio amidst the country's ongoing war with Russia.
Illya Zabarnyi, 20, plays as a centre-back. The player used to ply his trade for Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv before making a January transfer window deadline day move to Premier League outfit Bournemouth.
The towering central defender is certainly a great addition to Gary O'Neil's team. Bournemouth, though, are in the relegation zone. The 18th-placed team have only 17 points from 20 games. They return to action on February 4, in a league clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX.
Arsenal favourites to win Premier League
Arsenal are the surprise leaders of the Premier League midway through the season. Mikel Arteta's side have 50 points after 19 games and hold a five-point lead over second-placed Manchester City and with a game in hand.
Newcastle United and Manchester United are the two other teams in the top four. Liverpool and Chelsea, though, have struggled, sitting ninth and tenth in the standings respectively. Bournemouth, Everton and Southampton are the three teams in the relegation zone.
Arsenal signed three players in January: Leandro Trossard from Brighton, Jakub Kiwior from Spezia, and Jorginho from Chelsea. Arteta gave his verdict on the club's activity in the transfer window (via Arseblog):
“We had three main, key areas and positions we wanted to improve and fulfil. And we’ve done it. With Leo, we bring a player who already knows the league, who has been performing at a great level, that has the versatility that we needed and adds quality and goal threat to the squad, especially after the injury to Gabby (Jesus)."
He added about Kiwior and Jorginho:
“With Jakub, a young talent with incredible potential, that is going to adapt really well to our way of playing and we didn’t have a back-up (left side) centre-back for the whole season. And then the last one, with Jorge, a player that when you look at his CV, his playing record, his quality, I think we made some really decisions there.”
Arsenal travel to Everton on Saturday (February 4) in the Premier League.
