“Why can’t Arteta see this??” - Piers Morgan fumes at Arsenal boss for failure to address problem after Chelsea draw

Arsenal fan and British broadcaster Piers Morgan has slammed Mikel Arteta for failing to sign a striker this summer. The Gunners invested heavily in the squad, roping in Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino while Raheem Sterling and Neto were signed on loan deals.

The north London side were heavily linked with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko but a move never materialized. The 21-year-old signed a new deal with the Bundesliga club instead.

A recent report has suggested that Sesko was willing to join Arsenal this summer. However, the transfer broke because the Gunners couldn't guarantee him regular playing time.

The north London side may already be ruing that decision, with the club now fourth in the Premier League table after 11 games.

On Sunday (November 10), Arsenal could only manage a 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the league. Gabriel Martinelli scored the opening goal but it was cancelled out by Pedro Neto. Leandro Trossard missed a change late in the game, which left Morgan fuming.

Taking to social media to express his dissatisfaction, Morgan lamented the lack of a proper striker in the team.

"Absolute sitter missed at the death. God, we need a proper striker so badly. Why can't Arteta see this??" wrote Morgan.

The north London side have now scored 18 goals in 11 games in the Premier League this season. They are nine points behind leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal registered 91 goals in 38 games in the Premier League last season, finishing second in the league. Only champions Manchester City, who found the back of the net 96 times, scored more than the Gunners.

Bukayo Saka registered 16 goals in 35 games in the league while Kai Havertz scored 13 times in 37 games. Leandro Trossard found the back of the net 12 times in 34 games while Martin Odegaard also chipped in with eight goals from 35 games.

The north London side finished two points behind City and were expected to take the next step this season. Unfortunately, things haven't been so smooth of late. Sunday's result was Arsenal's fourth draw in the league this season. Only Ipswich Town have drawn more games in the league this campaign.

As such, the Gunners are likely to invest in a new striker in 2025. A move for Benjamin Sesko is next to impossible in January. However, recent reports have suggested that the north London side can sign him for €75 million next summer.
