Why did Dua Lipa attend Chelsea vs Fulham at Stamford Bridge? Reason behind surprise visit explained

Renowned singer Dua Lipa was spotted in the stands during Chelsea's Premier League clash against Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (13 January).

The Blues secured a closely-fought 1-0 win at home, thanks to a Cole Palmer penalty-kick in first-half stoppage time. And watching from the stands was Dua Lipa, accompanied by some of the cast members of an upcoming spy thriller movie 'Argylle'.

According to a report by NME, Dua Lipa was at Stamford Bridge to promote the movie, where she stars alongside Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard. A group of individuals, believed to be the movie's cast members, were seated directly behind the Chelsea dugout and did a bunch of stunts to promote the movie.

Around the 20-minute mark, they were seen getting up and reading a book in unison and then taking a look at their watches. They then got up once again to brush their teeth. This seemingly caught the attention of those who were sitting in the stadium and fans online.

Even Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino sported an 'Argylle' batch on his coat. The movie, directed by 'Layer Cake' director Matthew Vaughn, is slated for worldwide release on 2 February 2024 and is produced by one of the companies owned by Todd Boehly.

This will be the 'One Kiss' artist's first major role in a movie. The 28-year-old Anglo-Albanian singer is otherwise known for her achievements in music, where she has won three Grammys and six Brit Awards.

Chelsea boss happy after his team record three wins in a row

Mauricio Pochettino was pleased after Chelsea recorded three league wins in a row for the first time this season.

The run started with a 2-1 home win in the league against Crystal Palace on 27 December. Three days later, they beat Luton Town away from home by a 3-2 scoreline before recording a 1-0 win against Fulham.

After the game, the Argentine tactician said (h/t @PremierLeague on X):

"We have three wins in a row, it's good to get that confidence. Big, big credit to our players today because I think the performance was very good."

Chelsea kept 55% of the ball and managed 17 shots (three on target) as compared to Fulham's 14 (four on target). The Blues' next league assignment is a tough one, as they face leaders Liverpool at Anfield on 31 January. Chelsea currently sit eighth in the table with 31 points from 21 matches.
