"Why is he still playing for United", "He will relegate us" - Fans rip into Manchester United star after loss to West Ham

Fans on social media have criticized Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot's performance in their Premier League match against West Ham United. The Red Devils suffered a 2-1 loss against the Gunners on Sunday, October 27, at London Stadium.

Manchester United were guilty of missing a number of presentable opportunities in the first half against West Ham, which came back to haunt them in the second. Diogo Dalot was sent through on goal by Bruno Fernandes in the 32nd minute with a brilliant pass. The Portuguese defender took the ball past West Ham goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański, but fired his effort over the empty net.

After a goalless first half, West Ham United opened their scoring through Crysencio Summerville in the 74th minute. Casemiro netted the equalizer with a header from close range after being set up by Joshua Zirkzee in the 81st minute.

However, Manchester United's Matthijs De Ligt conceded a penalty for a foul on Danny Ings. Jarrod Bowen converted the penalty for West Ham in 90+2 minutes.

Diogo Dalot had 73 touches and played three key passes while maintaining a pass accuracy of 76%. Apart from missing a big chance, the Portuguese defender lost possession 16 times in the match against West Ham.

Fans flooded social media with posts sharing their opinions on Diogo Dalot's display in Manchester United's 2-1 loss against West Ham United. Here are some of their reactions on X:

"Why is Dalot still playing for united.. Why like why.. Hope Ya'll saw BISAKA who doest go forward."

Another added:

"F***ing buy a LB in January, Dalot will relegate us."

"Dalot has never been good enough for United and we were meant to get rid ages ago. Somehow he’s still starting for us"

Another tweeted:

"Dalot's one of the worst game in a United shirt and if that penalty was given against Liverpool, i would be throwing punches, no way it was a penalty on Ings lmao"
"Serious question here, how many goals/games does Diogo Dalot have to cost us before people wake up to the fact he’s f***in garbage?? #MUFC" posted another.

One user wrote:

"Diogo Dalot missed a chance you're absolutely hammered for at five-a-side, this is Manchester United Football Club. That one will torment him for a long time, I genuinely like him as a player but my god."

While another wrote:

"Diogo Dalot's contribution to every of our games. Fist pumps and high fives."

Diogo Dalot arrived at Old Trafford from his boyhood club Porto in 2018 and his current contract with the Premier League giants is valid until the summer of 2028. He has helped maintain five clean sheets and provided one assist in 14 appearances for Manchester United so far this season.

Erik ten Hag opens up after Manchester United's 2-1 defeat against West Ham

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag shared his thoughts on his team's 2-1 loss against West Ham in the Premier League. The Red Devils maintained 57% possession while taking five shots on target in the clash.

In an interview with MUTV after the match, Ten Hag claimed United were the better team and deserved to win. The Dutch manager said (via Metro.co.uk):

"In football it’s not always the best team winning, today is the perfect example. Today there was only one team who deserved the win. We played very good football, in and out of possession, dominating the opponent, creating chances. The only thing if you want to win, and that is already a longer issue with us, is that you have to score. The second thing we have to do better is look in the mirror, keep calm, keep focused and head in front of the goal."

Erik ten Hag also addressed the referee's decision to award the penalty to West Ham and added:

"In the end you lose the game, that’s very frustrating after we made one mistake. We showed again we are a resilient team and the penalty situation where the referee situation has a big impact on the score."

Manchester United are currently 14th on the Premier League table with 11 points from nine matches. The Red Devils will face Chelsea next in the league on November 3. They play against Leicester City in the Round of 16 of the EFL Cup on October 30 at Old Trafford.
