Will Cristiano Ronaldo join PSG? Report provides update amid recent rumors

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly not interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo despite recent rumors linking the Ligue 1 giants with a move for the Portuguese legend. Journalist Pedro Almeida had reported that PSG and Ronaldo were already in agreement over a possible transfer.

Almeida wrote on X:

"Big EXCL: PSG and Cristiano Ronaldo are in tune."

However, a fresh report via Fabrice Hawkins and Djamel has claimed that PSG are not interested in signing Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has notably played in three of the top five European leagues. The Portuguese legend began his career in Portugal with Sporting before joining Premier League giants Manchester United in 2003. He moved to Real Madrid in 2009 and spent nine seasons with Los Blancos before leaving for Juventus.

The 39-year-old returned to Manchester United in 2021. However, he spent only one year in his second spell at the club before a fallout with then-manager Erik ten Hag and the club's owners led to his contract being terminated. He joined Al-Nassr thereafter, where he currently plays.

Former France star slams Cristiano Ronaldo over Ligue 1 comments

Former France international Adil Rami has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo over his claim that the Saudi Pro League is more competitive than Ligue 1. At the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai in December 2024, Ronaldo stated that Ligue 1 only has PSG. He said:

"Saudi League is better than Ligue 1, of course. Try to sprint in 38, 39, 40 degree weather and see. Ligue 1 only has PSG. The other teams are finished."

Rami played 36 times for France and represented Ligue 1 clubs like Lille and Olympique Marseille. He opined that the French league has better defenders and the Al-Nassr star would struggle if he played in France.

"He talks s***. You want me to show you images of the defenders in Saudi Arabia. It's not because he's had a crazy career that as soon as he says something it's the truth. I think it's a PR stunt. We have defenders, they are machines! You put him in Ligue 1 and he gets eaten," Rami said (via Mirror).
"Cristiano Ronaldo, you know, I'm a fan. I'm Team Cristiano Ronaldo but he made a mistake. When he says that the Saudi championship is better than the one in France, he brings a lot of people with him," he added.

Ronaldo has scored 74 goals and provided 18 assists in 83 matches for Al-Nassr since joining the club in January 2023.
