Will Real Madrid re-sign Sergio Ramos? Fresh reports emerge on club's stance amid injury issues
According to journalist Jose Felix Diaz of Marca, Real Madrid are not considering a deal to re-sign Sergio Ramos despite their injury issues. Los Blancos have seen their defense ravaged by injury and recently lost Eder Militao in their previous game against Osasuna.
Ramos joined the Spanish giants in 2005 from Sevilla in a reported €27 million deal. He spent 16 years at the club, playing 671 games to help the team to four UEFA Champions League titles alongside five LaLiga crowns. He also scored 101 goals and provided 40 assists.
He was also part of the iconic Spanish team that won two Euros and a World Cup consecutively, making 180 appearances and scoring 23 times for La Roja.
The defender left Los Blancos on a free transfer in 2021 to join French giants Paris Saint-Germain for two seasons before moving to former side Sevilla in 2023.
Sergio Ramos is currently without a club after leaving his boyhood club Sevilla in the summer. He seems unlikely to join Real Madrid, with reports tipping Los Blancos with a move for Al-Nassr's Aymeric Laporte instead.
Guti urges Real Madrid to bring back former defender
Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti has urged the club to re-sign Sergio Ramos amid the injury crisis in their defense. Guti came through the club's ranks to make 542 appearances for the club before moving to Besiktas.
Los Blancos currently look light at both center-back and right-back positions. The three-time UEFA Champions League-winning midfielder, Guti urged the team to bring back the 38-year-old defender for one last stint, saying (via Footboom):
"Look at Ancelotti’s worried face. Militao is a crucial player who has just returned from last year's injury. Plus, there’s Carvajal’s injury. Alaba is facing a long-term setback. It's time to hit the market. For instance, Sergio Ramos is currently without a club. He could serve as both a right-back and a central defender.
"I clearly see this deal coming together, especially at zero cost. Last year, he played for Sevilla and achieved good results. He is someone who has been part of a team that was active last year. He continues to take care of himself and can play for these six months."
Guti played alongside Ramos for 10,557 minutes across 155 games for Real Madrid and the pair combined for seven goals. Los Blancos are currently missing Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Lucas Vazquez, and Eder Militao due to their respective injuries.
