"With my friend and penalty professor Bruno Penandes" - Portugal star trolls Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes on social media
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has poked fun at his Portugal teammate and Manchester United Captain Bruno Fernandes in a recent Instagram post. The Manchester-based duo played a key role for their country in their recent penalty shootout win over Slovenia at Euro 2024.
Silva and Fernandes both played 120 minutes in the close game in the Round of 16 and stepped up to convert their spot kicks to help the Iberian nation to victory. The win sees Portugal progress to the quarter-finals of the tournament and sees the 2016 winners three games away from the title.
Silva and Fernandes have both played 300 minutes across three games for Portugal at Euro 2024 and the Selecao are unbeaten with them on the pitch.
Taking to Instagram after the match, Silva posted a picture with the Manchester United captain that said:
"With my friend and penalty professor Bruno Penandes!"
The pair will be keen to win the trophy with their country and return to their respective clubs in Manchester as European Champions later this month. First, they will have to get past France in Frankfurt on July 5.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes rates England's chances at Euro 2024
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has laughed at the suggestion that England could win the ongoing European Championship in Germany. The Portuguese maestro plies his trade in England but does not believe they have what it takes to win the tournament, favoring his team over them.
Fernandes who already has one goal at Euro 2024 is one of the best players for his nation and is accompanied by a talented contingent at the tournament. The Red Devils skipper has played 70 times for his country since he made his debut for them in 2017, scoring 23 and assisting 20.
Speaking on Pro Direct Soccer's YouTube Channel, the Manchester United captain said:
"The only thing I have to say is that this is the only chance England has to beat Portugal - on the PlayStation."
"We'll give you that."
Bruno Fernandes will hope he can lead his country to the finals at Euro 2024, the only place they could face England. He will first have to make his way past France with his compatriots in what looks to be the toughest quarterfinal clash on paper.
