"Worst player this tournament", "Shockingly dreadful" - Fans slam England star for his performances as Three Lions lose Euro 2024 final
Fans have slammed England star Phil Foden for his performances in Euro 2024, as the Three Lions lost the final to Spain. The sides clashed at the Olympiastadion Berlin on Sunday, July 14, and La Roja came through victorious, much to the chagrin of Three Lions' fans.
While there has been a lot of criticism around England, one player who has picked up a considerable amount is Phil Foden. Although he has been in brilliant form for Manchester City, he was unable to take that form into the tournament with the Three Lions.
The 24-year-old started every single game under Gareth Southgate at the competition, showing glimpses of his quality, but not near often enough. He ended the tournament without a goal or assist to his name. This is rather shocking for a player who scored 19 goals and provided eight assists in 35 Premier League games last season.
Fans took to X after England lost to call out Phil Foden for his poor output at Euro 2024:
"England Starboy Phil Foden has been made the favourite to be named the NEW James Bond as he returns with a commanding 007 at #EURO2024. 0 x Goals scored, 0 x Assists, 7 x Appearances. GENERATIONAL MAGNIFICO. Stockport Messi ACTIVE," a fan trolled Foden.
"Shockingly dreadful," the fan added.
"Even Toney has more g/a than him ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜" a fan pointed out.
"World's first 007 in int'l comps," a fan mocked.
"worst player this tournament," another fan was displeased.
"Fun fact Palmer is who Foden thinks he is," another added.
"How did he manage 7 starts. Absolutely useless," a fan questioned.
"Player of the season propped up by his foreign city team mates. Massive disappointment he was," another fan said.
"New James bond, from the blue and small club of Manchester. 007 Foden," another ribbed him.
