"You can get him angry quickly, so sometimes I like to provoke him” - Jules Kounde names funniest player at Barcelona
Barcelona star Jules Kounde named his teammate Gavi as the funniest player in the locker room in a recent interview with Jazzy's TV. The Frenchman said that it is very easy to provoke the 20-year-old, so he enjoys pulling his leg sometimes.
"Funniest player in the locker room? Gavi. You can get him angry quickly, so sometimes I like to provoke him. It's funny," Kounde said (via Barca Universal).
Jules Kounde and Gavi have shared the pitch 47 times since Kounde joined Barca from Sevilla in 2022. The latter has been a part of Barca's youth team since 2015 and made his senior team debut in 2021.
Further in his interview, the Barcelona defender named his top five favorite players in history. He named Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo Nazario, Zinedine Zidane, and Ronaldinho.
"In no order. Messi, Cristiano, R9, Zidane, Ronaldinho," he said.
Jules Kounde opens up about playing for Barcelona and names Camp Nou as the best stadium in the world
In his aforementioned interview, Jules Kounde shared his thoughts about playing for Barcelona, naming Spotify Camp Nou as the best stadium in the world. The Frenchman shared that representing the Blaugrana makes him feel special.
"Playing for Barcelona is special. Barça is the number 1 club in the world. Playing at the Camp Nou, which I consider the best stadium in the world, is something special and reminds me of how much effort I put in to get here," Kounde said.
The Barcelona star also revealed that his biggest fear is to end his career with regrets. He shed light on athletes who get lost over time. This is because they are unable to put in their best and pay too much heed to what others have to say about them.
"My biggest fear is to have regrets at the end of my career, that I didn't do everything I could to reach the highest level I could. Or to get lost, because being an athlete you deal with a lot of things and sometimes some athletes get lost because they listen too much to what people say about them," the Frenchman said.
Jules Kounde has made 88 appearances for the Blaugrana and also scored three goals and provided 10 assists. The defender bowed out of Euro 2024 in the semi-finals after France lost 2-1 to Spain. He was one of Barca's best defenders despite an underwhelming 2023-24 season and is expected to remain key to Hansi Flick's system in the upcoming season.
Although Jules Kounde is a right-sided central defender, he is extremely agile and quick-footed to function as a right-back. The Frenchman has the versatility to sit back and defend as well as push forward and help in the attack when the team needs it.
