“You can’t fool me for the 5th year in a row” “Saga better end now” - Fans react as Kylian Mbappe reportedly agrees to join Real Madrid

Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Kylian Mbappe for him to join the La Liga giants. But, fans aren't getting ahead of themselves just yet.

Foot Mercato reports that Mbappe reached an agreement with Madrid a few days ago. The 25-year-old appears to have finally put to bed constant speculation regarding his future by agreeing to head to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have long courted the France captain and have failed with several offers in the past. Los Blancos were expected to sign the Parisian forward in 2022 but he signed a new two-year deal at the Parc des Princes.

Kylian Mbappe's decision to reject Madrid infuriated the La Liga giants but they continued their pursuit. They now look set to sign the Frenchman as a free agent once his contract with PSG expires at the end of the season.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has been in scintillating form this season. He's bagged 22 goals in 23 games across competitions, and many regard him as the best attacker in European football.

Mbappe looks set to become the heir of Karim Benzema who departed Madrid last summer for Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad. Los Merengues have been without a world-class striker since then, with the goalscoring burden falling on Jude Bellingham this season.

Fans are hopeful that the transfer saga has finally been put to bed. One fan stated:

"This saga better end now."

Another fan thinks it's yet another false alarm regarding the never-ending speculation about the Frenchman heading to Madrid:

"You can’t fool me for the 5th year in a row."

Here's how fans on X (formerly Twitter) reacted to the reports that Mbappe is on his way to Real Madrid:

Real Madrid boast some of Europe's most exciting talents in Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Federico Valverde. Adding Kylian Mbappe to that list is a mouthwatering prospect for any Los Merengues fan.

Vinicius has certainly been looking forward to playing with Mbappe amid constant speculation the PSG forward will join the club. He said just months ago (via Tribal Football):

"Everyone here wants to play with Kylian. I hope it happens one day. He is one of the best players, maybe the best."

Mbappe has lit up European football while at PSG, bagging 234 goals and 100 assists in 283 games. He's won 14 major trophies with the Parisians, including six Ligue 1 titles.

However, one trophy that has evaded his trophy cabinet is a much-desired UEFA Champions League trophy. Real Madrid are the record holders with 14 titles to their name.
