"You just never know with Manchester United" - Chris Sutton makes prediction for West Ham vs Manchester United clash
Pundit Chris Sutton left it to his daughter to pick the winner between Manchester United and West Ham United. These two Premier League sides meet at the London Stadium on Sunday, October 27.
Going into this game, the Hammers may be low on confidence after losing 4-1 at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, October 19. Meanwhile, the Red Devils produced a 2-1 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford later that day.
Unable to decide whether the Manchester outfit can get over the line, Sutton wrote in his column (via BBC Sport):
"Things did not get any better for Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui with their defeat against Tottenham, and it seems he still doesn’t know what the 'West Ham way' is."
"The Hammers need a big improvement, but this game is more about what Manchester United do and whether they turn up."
He added:
"They were excellent in the second half of their win over Brentford last time out, but they need to back it up for 90 minutes. Can they do it? You just never know with Manchester United, and I've given up on backing them to beat anyone."
"They are inconsistent and what doesn’t help is that they are playing in Turkey in the Europa League on Thursday night, so team selection and tiredness has to come into the equation."
He added:
"My daughter is doing some maths revision with me at the moment, working out the area of triangles - you multiply the height by the width, then halve it. I can get all of those sums right, but I am always wrong about United, so I am going to let her make this prediction."
In the end, Sutton's daughter Sophia Sutton predicted Erik ten Hag's team to win this fixture 2-1. They certainly need the points, with the team placed 12th in the standings, three places, and points ahead of their weekend's opponents.
Marcus Rashford seeking Manchester United exit in January - Reports
Several Manchester United fans may say that attacker Marcus Rashford is not the player he was a few years ago. Now, a report from Nacional in Spain claims that the player himself recognizes the same but blames the Red Devils for a drop in his levels (via TeamTalk).
As a result, the aforementioned publication claims that the England international is seeking a move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window. This would seem rather surprising given that Rashford came up the ranks at Manchester United and has made 414 senior appearances across competitions.
From those matches, he's scored 135 goals and bagged 72 assists while winning the FA Cup twice and the Europa League once, among other honors. Aston Villa, Marseille, and Napoli are the sides that are said to be looking to acquire Rashford's services in January. He's registered four goals and three assists in 12 games across competitions this season.
