"You need that type of player" - Paul Scholes names one Chelsea player he would have liked to play with following 1-1 draw with Manchester United
Paul Scholes has heaped praise on Moises Caicedo and claimed that the Chelsea man was the best midfielder on the pitch during their 1-1 draw against Manchester United. The Premier League giants clashed at Old Trafford in the league on Sunday, November 3.
Speaking on Premier League productions, Scholes was in awe of Caicedo's performance at Old Trafford. He claimed that he would have liked to play with Caicedo. The Manchester United legend said (via Chelsea News):
"Moises Caicedo is the type of player you want to play with, you need that type of player. He was probably the best out of the four [on the pitch]."
Bruno Fernandes scored the opening goal (70') from the spot but the Blues leveled the score thanks to Moises Caicedo just four minutes later in the second half. The Ecuadorian midfielder volleyed home from the edge of the box after a cleared corner fell to his feet.
Paul Scholes hits out at Manchester United star after Chelsea draw
Paul Scholes has criticized Marcus Rashford for missing a presentable opportunity in their 1-1 draw with Chelsea. The forward got on the end of a brilliant pass from Bruno Fernandes at the end of the first half, but rattled his effort against the crossbar. Scholes believes that the Englishman was trying to make the goal look better and not keeping things simple. He said (via Football365):
"I expect him to do better. I think he is trying to make the goal look better by going high into the roof of the net. It is quite a simple side-foot volley from seven yards. All he has to do is keep it down."
Scholes believes that Manchester United will need to sort out their goal-scoring issues quickly. He added that the incoming manager, Ruben Amorim, will need to focus on the issue and said:
"It is something the new manager has to address. They have had chances this season. It has to get better. The lack of goals is a problem. We have one centre forward who we are not quite sure about. He [Hojlund] is a young lad but can get 20, 25 goals? He looks more like a 10 to 15 man. Zirkzee who they brought in for over £30million hasn't got up and running yet. Where are the rest of the goals coming from? Marcus had that year where he scored 30. Garnacho again looks like he's more capable of 10 to 15 instead of 20 to 25. So the biggest job he [Amorim] has is to find 70-80 goals to elevate them to where they should be."
Manchester United have scored just nine goals in their opening 10 Premier League matches of the season, the third-worst tally in the league. They are 13th in the league table, while Chelsea moved to fourth following the draw at Old Trafford.
