"You have a point to be angry" - Dimitar Berbatov offers advice to Manchester United attacker after Brentford win
Dimitar Berbatov has urged Rasmus Hojlund to be more aggressive on the pitch after Manchester United's 2-1 win over Brentford in the Premier League last weekend (19 October).
Thomas Frank's side drew first blood thanks to Ethan Pinnock's header during stoppage time of the first half. The Red Devils then secured an impressive comeback victory with two excellent goals.
The first came shortly after the second period commenced. Alejandro Garnacho found the back of the net with a superb finish, courtesy of Marcus Rashford's assist. The England international sent in a curling cross that Garnacho connected with first time.
Rasmus Hojlund scored Manchester United's second in the 62nd minute. Christian Eriksen's pass was flicked on by Bruno Fernandes near the edge of the box to Hojlund, who chipped it past Brentford keeper Mark Flekken.
Despite scoring the match-winner and securing all three points for his side, Berbatov has offered some advice to the Danish forward on what he's lacking. The former Manchester United striker said on Rio Ferdinand's YouTube channel (as quoted by Metro):
"I think as a striker he needs to be more demanding and arguing. Not being so nice and just pushing the buttons of some of the players around him."
"Like give me the ball, asking for the ball, when the ball is not coming because I can see that he was doing some runs behind the defense and then nobody was seeing him."
"That should make you angry, you have a point to be angry after this one."
United will next face Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday (24 October).
"I think he’s starting to look a player" - Jamie Carragher heaps praise on Manchester United star after Brentford win
While Berbatov highlighted Hojlund's scope for improvement after the Brentford win, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher lauded the Denmark international. He feels that Hojlund's starting to come into his own at United.
The pundit recalled his performance in Manchester United's 3-3 Europa League draw against Porto at the start of the month, a fixture in which Hojlund got on the scoresheet.
Carragher said:
"Hojlund, I think he’s starting to look a player. I was really impressed with him in Porto a couple of weeks ago, he put a real shift in. There’s real talent in the front three, but the man who gets the winning goal, I think he’s starting to look a player."
Manchester United are 12th in the Premier League table, six points adrift of the top four. Erik ten Hag's men have recorded three wins, two draws, and three losses in their first eight games so far.
