Real Madrid fans have waxed lyrical about Jude Bellingham on X, with some believing he deserves to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or. He gave a brilliant performance in their 2-0 win against Atalanta as Los Blancos won the UEFA Super Cup at the National Stadium Warsaw (Wednesday, August 14).
Carlo Ancelotti's men made a dominant start to the game with both Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior looking threatening. However, Atalanta struck the woodwork in the 22nd minute through Marten de Roon. Rodrygo was then unfortunate not to score just before half-time after his shot crashed against the bar.
Vinicius made a great run past Berat Djimsiti in the 59th minute before playing the ball into the path of Fede Valverde. The latter made no mistake to make it 1-0 for Real Madrid. Los Blancos then ramped up the pressure. They were rewarded when Bellingham's inch-perfect pass enabled Mbappe to score on his debut for the La Liga giants in the 68th minute.
Bellingham was arguably Real Madrid's best player against Atalanta, dictating play in midfield, as well as making some smart runs in between the lines. The 21-year-old completed 44/49 passes, with an accuracy of 90 percent, created three big chances, provided one assist and landed two shots on target.
Bellingham also made seven passes into the final third and completed five of his six dribbles with a completion rate of 83 percent. In addition, he won 13 duels, made four recoveries, and two interceptions - looking immaculate on the defensive side of things as well. He deservedly won the 'Player of the Match' award.

Real Madrid looked extremely impressive as they defeated Atalanta 2-0 to win the 2024 UEFA Super Cup. They have now won four trophies this calendar year, following their triumphs in the Supercopa de Espana, La Liga, and UEFA Champions League.
Carlo Ancelotti and Co. edged Atalanta on possession with 52 percent of the ball. They also completed 482 passes with an accuracy of 88 percent. In contrast, the Serie A outfit had 48 percent possession, completing 434 passes with an accuracy of 86 percent.
Real Madrid looked more dominating in attack, attempting 13 shots in total with six being on target. They also had four big chances, missing two of them. Meanwhile, Atalanta attempted seven shots in total, landing two of them on target while missing one big chance.
