“You see nothing” - France star reveals what it’s like to wear Kylian Mbappe’s mask
France striker Randal Kolo Muani has revealed how it felt to wear Kylian Mbappe's protective mask. The Real Madrid forward has had to wear a protective mask after breaking his nose against Austria in the group stage of Euro 2024.
The French captain has struggled to play with the mask on and has complained about how it affects his vision, telling Get French Football News:
"An absolute horror. It limits my vision, the sweat gets blocked. It felt like I was in 3D and that I was a VIP guest at the Euros.”
Randal Kolo Muani, Mbappe's former Paris Saint-Germain teammate, echoed his feelings about the mask, saying:
“I tried it on. You see nothing! It’s difficult. We laugh about it.”
Kylian Mbappe and Kolo Muani remain at Euro 2024 despite Les Bleus scoring only three goals in five games at the tournament. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winners next face Spain in the semi-finals on Tuesday, July 9, in Munich.
Kylian Mbappe eager to make his mark on the sport
Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he wants to create his own legacy despite being compared to Cristiano Ronaldo. The French superstar is often viewed as the direct successor to Ronaldo due to his style of play and marketability.
The World Cup-winning forward has also moved to Real Madrid at a similar age to when the Portuguese legend became a Madridista. However, he recently said that intended to write his legacy and not extend Ronaldo's, saying (via FotMob):
"I like to admire the great player, there will never be another Cristiano Ronaldo. He has shaped football, inspired generations, scored goals and won cups. He has known how to reinvent himself. He is one of a kind."
Kylian Mbappe added:
“I am following my own path; my dream of playing at Real Madrid is becoming a reality. I hope to make my mark on football and be one of a kind at Real Madrid but I am not writing the next chapter of his story. His CV speaks for itself and I have total respect for him."
Mbappe will hope he can rediscover the form that saw him score 44 goals and provide 10 assists in 48 games for PSG last season and help Les Bleus end their 24-year wait to regain the European Championship crown.
