Olivier Giroud to leave Arsenal for France to save his marriage?
Arsenal star striker Olivier Giroud is set to leave the club in the summer and move back to France in order to save his marriage with his wife Jennifer.
Jennifer had shut down her Twitter profile last month when Giroud had admitted to cheating on her with model Celia Kay, just hours before the Gunners’ FA Cup clash against Liverpool.
A source has said: “She’s agreed to take him back, but only on the condition they leave London and England.
“He’s desperate to save the marriage because he knows how stupid he’s been – so he is going along with what she wants.”
The Frenchman held secret talks with influential football agent Muzzi Ozcan on Thursday evening, spending 45 minutes with him at Aubaine restaurant in Hampstead.
Ozcan was previously involved in brokering the move of former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini to Galatasaray, while also led the Turkish club’s attempt to sign John Terry last year.
Ozcan is reported to have strong contacts within Qatarti backed French club Paris Saint Germain, although Ozcan is not Giroud’s official agent. Mickael Manuello, the agent of Giroud has said that the meeting was for commercial purposes and not for discussing a transfer.
He further added that Giroud had no intention of leaving Arsenal and was fully committed on helping Arsenal do the double this season.
Last week, Giroud had said: “There were some things which were true, some others were false. But that’s the past.
“What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger. I’m convinced everything that happened to me will make me stronger.
“That’s all I need to do: focus on the pitch with my club and take care of my family.
“It’s been a difficult period. You have to be strong in your head. I used football as an outlet. The contribution of the coach Arsene Wenger was very important. Now I just want to forget about it, move on to something else and make a new start.”
