Olivier Giroud mocked by PES 2017 in new trailer since striker misses goalscoring chances

France’s first choice striker, Olivier Giroud, has been the subject of many jokes recently after his lackluster performance for France in the opening two games of Euro 2016. The 29-year-old scored a goal against Romania but missed several chances over the course of the last two games and it comes as no surprise as that has been the case with him while playing for Arsenal as well. PES took this opportunity to market their latest version, PES 2017, by including a clip of Giroud squandering a chance to score a goal.

PES which is developed and published by Konami is famous for their gameplay in the footballing fraternity. Their latest teaser trailer focuses on the improved gameplay and features players from Atletico Madrid and Arsenal. Antoine Griezmann, Saul, Juanfran, Gabi, Koke and Diego Godin are the Atletico Madrid players who feature prominently in the teaser, while Francis Coquelin, Laurent Koscielny, Petr Cech, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud are the Arsenal players who have been highlighted.

The video starts with Griezmann executing a brilliant rabona pass to Saul, who then drifts past Coquelin and Koscielny before taking a shot on target which is then saved brilliantly by Cech.

Giroud scored the first goal of Euro 2016 but missed several chances to increase his tally

Bellerin then starts an Arsenal counter attack by passing the ball to Ozil and the German escapes the clutches of three Atletico players by using a bit of trickery. Ozil then passes the ball to Sanchez and the 27-year-old beats Juanfran and Gabi before putting in a wonderful cross into the box. Giroud is at the end of a beautiful Arsenal move and just like in real life, he fails to convert a good chance as he heads it straight down to the Atletico Madrid keeper. The video ends with an unnamed Arsenal player wearing the number 70 kit taking a shot after charging in to collect the rebound.

Giroud is not new to such jokes about his failure to convert chances, but this one is certainly embarrassing for the striker. France play Switzerland in the final group stage fixture and Giroud may be benched for the game now that the Euro hosts have already qualified for the first knockout stage. However, he will be hoping to get a chance to salvage some pride.
