Olympiacos 0-0 Barcelona: Player Ratings
Barcelona were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Olympiacos at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens.
Ernesto Valverde's side were unable to find a way through against the Greek outfit, who had chances of their own to nick all three points.
Here's how the players from both teams rated on Tuesday night:
Olympiakos
Silvio Proto - 9/10
Barcelona had 19 shots on the night, but only six of those found the target. Proto was on hand to deal with those efforts, including two good chances for Messi.
Omar Elabdellaoui - 8/10
The Norwegian right-back played a disciplined role here, occasionally breaking forward but never neglecting his defensive duties. No-one made more interceptions (four) than him.
Alberto Botia - 9/10
This was a superb showing from Botia, who was continually in the right place at the right time to thwart Barcelona. He showed tremendous leadership and excellent positional sense to help the Greeks record a clean sheet.
Bjorn Engels - 8/10
Engels was almost as good as his centre-back partner, as he and Botia kept the door shut. His positioning was superb, as evidenced by the fact he made a match-high six clearances.
Leonardo Koutris - 9/10
The left-back was tremendous on Tuesday night, turning in a brilliant all-round defensive display. He made a team-high six clearances and three tackles, putting his body on the line without ever getting a rush of blood to the head.
Diogo Figueiras - 7/10
Figueiras looked a little unsure of himself in attacking areas and could have done better on one or two occasions. Despite that, he worked hard defensively and put in a shift on the right.
Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe - 8/10
Odjidja-Ofoe played some fine passes against Barcelona, including one to pick out Elabdellaoui in a good position in the first half. He carried the ball forward well at times too.
Panagiotis Tachtsidis - 8/10
Tachtsidis sat in front of the hosts' backline and looked to disrupt Barcelona's rhythm. He is not the most mobile of midfielders, but he possesses a good range of passing and made a number of interceptions in the centre.
Jacques-Alaixys Romao - 7/10
Romao was one of Olympiacos' most involved players in possession, and he generally made smart decisions on the ball. He also helped ensure there was not much space between the midfield and defensive lines.
Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez - 7/10
A workmanlike display from a player who is capable of real attacking quality, Carcela-Gonzalez tracked the runs of Semedo and offered support for the backline.
Konstantinos Fortounis - 8/10
A willing runner who attempted to give Barcelona something to think about, Fortounis actually spent most of the evening pressing from the front and trying to stop opposition moves at the source. He did have two shots, though, and forced a save from ter Stegen.
Substitutes:
Felipe Pardo - 6/10
Pardo almost profited from a rare attacking move for Olympiacos, but he just failed to get a touch on a cross from out wide. The rest of his cameo was spent defending.
Guillaume Gillet - 7/10
Gillet is 33 years old but he put in a shift during his time on the field, closing down opponents and getting back behind the line of the ball.
Uros Djurdjevic - N/A
Brought on in the closing stages to help Olympiacos run the clock down - which is exactly what he did.
