Oscar not named in Brazil squad for Copa America after training injury

Oscar injured himself in a training session with Chelsea

Brazilian national team coach Dunga has not named Chelsea’s Oscar in the squad that will take part in the Copa America set to take place in Chile next month. The youngster injured himself during a training session with Chelsea.

Brazil coach Dunga took the call to drop him from the squad after he spoke to Blues boss Jose Mourinho. Dunga said: "Oscar got an injury in his last training session with Chelsea, we spoke with (Jose) Mourinho and the doctor at Chelsea and his recuperation will take time and he won't be at his best during the Copa America."

“After the Copa America we have the World Cup qualifiers, and we thought it best for him to be ready for the qualifiers.”

Everton Riberio of UAE-based club Al-Ahli will replace Oscar in the Brazil squad. The team will start their training session at the Granja Comary training complex in Teresópolis on June 1, and will kick off their campaign on June 14 with a match against Peru at the Estadio Municipal German Becker in Temuco.
