Osvaldo banned for three matches following a touchline brawl

Southampton striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo has been banned for three matches and fined £40,000 following the charges against him for violent conduct during his team’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United last month.

Triggered by a challenge from Morgan Schneiderlin on Massadio Haidara, Osvaldo got himself involved in a touchline brawl, one in which the substitutes and coaching staffs from either side also joined in during the St. James’s Park draw on 14 December.

The tussle, which took place in the 94th minute of the game, also led to the sending off of the goalkeeping coaches from both sides- Newcastle’s Andy Woodman and Southampton’s Toni Jimenez- by the referee Mike Jones.

The Italian international joined Southampton in the 2013 summer transfer window on a four year deal worth €15.1 (£12.8) million fee plus bonuses up to €2 million.
