Owen Coyle replaces Martinez at Wigan - report
Owen Coyle has been appointed manager at English Championship side Wigan Athletic, Sky Sports News television said on Friday, quoting unnamed sources.
The channel said club owner Dave Whelan had brought in the 46-year-old former Bolton Wanderers boss on a one-year rolling contract and offered lucrative bonuses to get the club back to the English Premier League.
There was no official comment from Wigan.
Wigan were relegated from the top flight last season, despite winning the FA Cup, and had been looking for a candidate for the vacant manager’s position following the departure of Roberto Martinez.
Martinez has taken over from David Moyes at Everton, after the latter’s move to succeed Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
