Pablo Escobar's hitman sends a video message to Luis Suarez and the Uruguayan team
The Uruguayan football team has received support from an unusual source. A hitman of Pablo Escobar has appreciated the efforts of the Uruguayan national team and some of its players in a video that is going viral on Twitter.
His name is Jhon Jairo Velasquez, and he goes by the nickname of ‘Popeye’. According to the Sun, the murderer spent 22 years in prison, killing 300 people for the famed drug dealer.
Uruguay recently lost their World Cup 2018 qualifier to Argentina in a narrow 1-0 defeat. The hitman sent the team a personal message after the game was over. Here is the video of the same:
The message is of love and support, so don;t worry Barca fans Suarez will not be No. 301. Here is English translation of the message:
“Hello, I am Jhon Jairo Velásquez Vásquez, Popeye, the personal hitman for Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria. I come to send a strong salute to the Uruguayan football team, and champions Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani. “Receive all my love, my respect, you who are the strength of your people, the pride of your people.”
Uruguay are currently second in the Standings after 7 matches, only a point behind Messi’s Argentina. Suarez and Messi shared a light moment just before the match begun as well as cameras captured their conversation.
While the exact words are unknown, it is believed the joke was along the lines of Messi’s retirement. The captain scored on his return to international football after a temporary hiatus sending his team to the top of the table.
Messi’s injury a concern for Barcelona
Leo Messi has picked up a knock after the game against Uruguay and is set to miss the La Liga game this coming weekend. The injury is not serious but the Physio has advised Messi to take it easy and only take part in light training sessions.
Barcelona will take a call on Messi's’ fitness before the game on Saturday, but there is also a concern that he might miss their opening UEFA Champions League fixture against Celtic next week,
Neymar should be back this week after staying in Brazil until completing his duty with the national team. If Messi does miss the game this weekend then Arda will most likely play in the Argentine's place
