Paris Saint Germain join Manchester United in race for Ronaldo
The race to sign Cristiano Ronaldo has now turned into a tug of war between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester United have already started talks with Ronaldo’s agent after PSG came to Real Madrid with a lavish offer. Reports state that United have held high level talks with main sponsors Nike to put a package to land the Portuguese superstar.
The Red Devils had initially planned to offer £65 million plus a player, most likely Nani, to Real Madrid if they got word that the player wants a move. They had sold Ronaldo to Real for £80million in 2009.
PSG’s move for the forward has set alarm bells ringing at Manchester United. Hence, they have reacted quickly and are ready to top any wage offer, which would make him joint top earner at Old Trafford along with Wayne Rooney on £250,000 a week.
Nike would also be ready to offer Ronaldo more incentives to move back to Old Trafford.
If Cristiano Ronaldo leaves, his preferred destination would be Manchester United.
The Portuguese is yet to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu. He has two years left on his current deal and seems quite prepared to leave Real for nothing at the end of it.
