Paul Lambert: I won't reconcile with Norwich
Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has stated that he will never put his rift with the Norwich board behind him. The Express reports.
Norwich was promoted to the Premier League and they managed to finish twelfth with Lambert at the helm, after which he moved to Aston Villa in 2012.
Last year saw a massive tussle between Norwich and Lambert who sued each other for violation of contracts. When he was questioned if he would break the ice and shake hands with the Norwich board today, Lambert said: “Will I? Oh God, no! There’ll be none of that. It’s gone. Time will never heal that.”
And when asked if he would come out with the truth behind the bad blood he stated: “Maybe when the big man upstairs is calling me. Then perhaps.
“I’m sure people in Norwich would love to know the truth. But I know what happened.
“I had great times and a great relationship with the fans. It’s something I want to let go now, it’s history. That’s it, finished. I don’t have to prove anything here just because it’s Norwich. Since I’ve gone back, the majority of the fans have been fine. I have nothing but good memories there. But what happened after that, happened.”
Lambert finds himself in the middle of controversy with Norwich once again after Lambert took former Norwich goalkeeper Jed Steer to Aston Villa. Norwich are demanding that Aston Villa pay the club for the transfer of Steer.
Lambert said: “The fee has still to be resolved, which I’m sure will be soon. I knew Jed from when I worked there. He’s a keeper with a great future. Thankfully, he’s here.”
The Lions have not won any of their games since beating Arsenal in the first match of their Premier League campaign.
