Paul Pogba denies saying he wanted transfer from Juventus to Barcelona
Zurich, Jan 12 Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has denied saying he wants to join Spanish giants Barcelona but added that someday he would like to win the Ballon d'Or. Argentina and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi won the coveted title here on Monday night.
But Pogba made it to the 2015 FIFPro World XI after helping the Serie A side win the league and the Coppa Italia. He was also instrumental in taking his side to the Champions League final.
"I've never said that (about wanting to join Barcelona)," Pogba was quoted as saying on Tuesday. "Right now I am playing with Juventus."
He said he wants to be among the three finalists for the footballer of the year title and then maybe clinch it someday.
"Maybe one day I can be among the three finalists. My biggest goal is to win the Ballon d'Or, but there are a lot of other candidates," he said.
"I used to watch Messi and (Cristiano) Ronaldo on TV and played with them on the Playstation – now I am close to them."
"But my objective is not just to be close to them, I want to be better than them one day. It is all about putting in the work. I have to keep working hard and maybe I will get there."
