Paul Pogba: Sir Alex Ferguson made me cry at Manchester United

Pogba is all set for the Euros

Sir Alex Ferguson’s attempt to keep hold of Paul Pogba is well documented. There was a lot of speculation about his future when he was in his last year at Manchester United and his contract was running down.

In the end, the Scot could not convince the star to stay at the club and he eventually left for pastures new. The reason was said to be Ferguson’s reluctance to play the teenager in the first team because of high competition for places.

Pogba wanted first team football and Turin giants Juventus gave him exactly that which prompted him to leave the club. It has been revealed now that Pogba cried after Ferguson became furious with the youngster upon learning of his decision.

Pogba’s mother explained Ferguson subjected the prodigy to harsh treatment at the club after he refused to sign a new contract. Yeo Moriba spoke to AFP about her son’s experience with the great manager.

“I said: ‘What? Ferguson coming to my house! He came alone”, she said referring to the time when the manager tried to convince Pogba.

“We had got together with his brothers and we decided: he won’t re-sign. Ferguson punished him, he didn’t play him, Paul was alone. He even cried in Ferguson’s office over the way he was treated.”

Now 23, Pogba has established himself as one of the world’s best, even being named in FIFA’s World XI during the Ballon d ‘Or ceremony. Four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias and 1 UEFA Champions League final later United are back in for him.

The only problem is he will now cost a lot of money. Juve know they have the upper hand and will demand a huge sum for their star. The Red Devils are certainly a club that don’t shy away from spending big and have the financial might to back it as well.

But will Jose Mourinho give the all clear for such a big transfer fee, and moreover will Pogba be convinced enough to leave are the two biggest questions that still remain unanswered for now
