Paul Pogba speaks about 'selfish' Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

Ronaldo and Messi are two of the greatest players of this generation

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have redefined how we look at football in the past few years. Easily the two greatest players of this generation if not the greatest ever, Ronaldo and Messi have often been accused of being selfish by fans and the media alike.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba however, refuted claims that the superstar duo is selfish and greedy.  Speaking in an interview to La Repubblica., Pogba said:

"If Messi scores, does that make him selfish?"

"No, being strong lets you help the team. Take Cristiano Ronaldo. He sets himself some incredibly high objectives, he's ambitious, he wants to beat every record, and he wants the Ballon d'Or. That's not selfishness.

Pogba also spoke about how he has gained experience. The Manchester United midfielder said that he is much more consistent now than in the beginning of his career.

"Sometimes I play well, and sometimes I don't. That's why I get angry. I hate making mistakes.

"I made even more mistakes back when I played in the street, and I used to react exactly the same way. Improving, and reducing mistakes – that's what I call experience."

Pogba wants to become a legend like Pele or Maradona

United midfielder Paul Pogba says he wants to become a football legend like Pele or Diego Maradona.

The French international has gained recognition with a lot of consistent performances in the last four years.

"I want to become a legend, like Pele or Maradona," Pogba was quoted as saying by goal.com.

"Or more than them. I'm not trying to say that I'm the strongest, only that I want to be."

The 23-year-old also said he hates to lose and that he is working to be the best ever.

"I have a problem: I hate to lose. And I like to be different, I want to do what nobody else has done. I work hard because I aim to become perfect and because it makes me happy when I win," he said.

"I may not be among the most beloved players, but that's not my target. I'm working to be the best."

Pogba will be looking to make an impact in the much awaited Manchester derby on Saturday. Both United and City have had perfect starts, but United might hold a slight edge because of the suspension of City talisman Sergio Aguero.
