Paul Scholes acknowledges the quality of "brilliant" Roberto Firmino

Firmino celebrates by his goal against Manchester United on Thursday

Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes has acknowledged the fact that he has no more doubts about the quality of Roberto Firmino.

The 24-year-old had joined Liverpool from 1899 Hoffenheim in June 2015 and had a bit of a slow start to the season before finally hitting form. The Brazilian international had scored the second goal in the Reds 2-0 victory over their arch rivals at Anfield on Thursday after Daniel Sturridge slotted a penalty home in the first half of the game.

In a BT Sports post-match analysis, Scholes, currently the co-owner of Salford City FC admitted to his former rival and current colleague, Jamie Carragher that Roberto Firmino was absolutely “brilliant” throughout the course of the match.

Although he was not very happy with the outing from his former club, Scholes admitted to the fact that the Manchester United side was completely overwhelmed by the Redmen for the majority of their Europa League tie on Thursday.

Quality for Liverpool at the top

He told his fellow BT pundit and ex-Liverpool defensive spearhead, Jamie Carragher, “When you saw the gulf in quality here, it was just incredible.”

“Look at the forward players Liverpool had: Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge. They’ve got goals. I hadn’t been sure about Firmino but this last week he has convinced me. He’s been brilliant. Lallana had a quiet period but he looks like a real player,” he continued.

The Ginger Prince was all praises for the Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp as well. He told that Liverpool’s comeback in just a period of few weeks is immensely impressive as the German has managed to revitalise the team which had underperformed for the most part of the 2015-16 season under ex-manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Brazilian recently has caught the attention of the majority of football personalities from all across the globe with his string of good performances under Jurgen Klopp.

The French football legend, Thierry Henry also believes that Firmino could be the next Luis Suarez for the Reds.

According to the ex-Arsenal striker, "Is he Luis Suarez? At the moment he isn't Suarez. But he might be in the future. Is he the guy who is going to make Liverpool win a title? I don't know."

"He is doing extremely well. If he can build a partnership with (Philippe) Coutinho, who knows?" the Frenchman added.
