Paulinho keen on Tottenham move
Brazilian midfielder Paulinho has expressed his desire to play in the English Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur and said that he can’t reject an offer from the London club.
“I feel I am ready to experience football at the highest level in Europe and the opportunity to play in England is a dream,” Paulinho is quoted in The Independent.
“It’s a great pleasure to be linked to such a great club like Tottenham. They have a reputation as one of the great clubs in England who play exciting, attacking football which suits my style.
“I couldn’t turn them down if they made me an offer. It would be a fantastic opportunity to play for Tottenham.”
Tottenham have made an official offer to the Brazilian’s current employers, Corinthians and the bid was reported to have matched the €20million (£17m) buy-out clause. Only few days ago Paulinho had said that he will make the decision once he is done with his international duty for Brazil in the on-going Confederations Cup.
Corinthians director Duilio Monteiro Alves will hold talks with the player to come to a decision on the situation, though he stated that the club will not be able to do anything if the right offer is made and the player wants to leave.
“The buy-out fee is 20million Euros and Corinthians can’t do anything,” Alves told UOL. “We’ll talk with him.
“Paulinho already knows about the offer, we told him. He asked to wait until he returns from the national team. When he comes, the final decision will be made.”
Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Roma are reportedly also interested to sign Paulinho too.
