Pele says Marcus Rashford can be a great player
Marcus Rashford has been in scintillating form for Manchester United and England’s national team this season, since making his debut in 2016. He broke several records for both club and country becoming the youngest ever scorer in a European competition besting George Best long standing record. He also became the youngest ever scorer for the England National Team when he scored on his debut in a warm-up match before the 2016 Euros begin.
Pele, who is widely regarded as the greatest footballer ever to walk the face of the Earth has been full of praises for the young English forward. Pele was the first player to score 1000 goals in world football and he currently holds the crown as Brazil’s highest scoring player of all time.
Upon being asked about the young Englishman, Pele said: “He has a great future. There’s no doubt. I had a little bit of luck. Because in my time, they didn’t have the information, they didn’t have the TV”. He added “Now people know when they are going to play anywhere, it’s tough.” He further added: “There’s no doubt he’s a very good player.”

Pele told Sky Sports HQ: "He is almost the same age as I was”. He added "I was a little bit younger than him and it was as big a surprise to me. I wish him the same luck that I had."
The Brazilian legend also had a few good things to say for the former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who took over as boss at Manchester United last week. He said: "He's a good coach. I love him and I wish him good luck.” He went on to say: "When you have a good coach, normally it's possible to make a good team. But to win you need to have good players. The coach doesn't win the game. They can prepare the team."
The Brazil great made a revelation that he had an offer from the Red Devils in the sixties. This would have been interesting, considering that he also was close to joining to Real Madrid during his playing career.
He said: “Yes I had an offer in, I think in 1968. The late sixties. The team I used to play for Santos said “we have had a number of calls to play in Manchester for Manchester United”. “They asked “Do you want to play there?”
“Back then Santos was one of the best teams; Santos and Real Madrid. So I said, no, I will stay.”
The young forward would be looking to cement his place for both club and country in the near future after being selected for the 23-man squad for the Euros.
