Pep Guardiola: Arsenal could make Bayern Munich suffer

Pep Guardiola wary of Arsenal

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has declared that is he is worried about the damage Arsenal can do to his side in their Champions League last-16 clash at the Emirates Stadium, report the Express.

Although the Germans administered a resounding display to win 3-1 in north London during last season’s competition Guardiola is wary of the ability of Arsene Wenger’s men to dominate possession in long periods.

“Always they have good shape and good movement. Always they are organised with the ball and when during the game we let the ball go to them, we are going to suffer.

“I have never won here. I have learned you can never dominate 90 minutes against Arsenal. With their quality of player, a complete 90 minutes is impossible.

“What happens, is you can dominate for certain moments. Until maybe before half-time. But Arsenal, with this quality players, will always give you a problem at some point,” he insisted.

The reigning European champions have been labelled strong favourites to progress having all but assured progression after the away leg last season, but the Spaniard has refused to turn his thoughts to the security of the second leg, such is the stern test his side will face tonight.

“We will try to make a good game as best as possible. I don’t even think too much about the second game. We need to concentrate on what we have to do tomorrow. I hope it’s going well,” he declared.

While the former Barcelona midfielder paid tribute to a host Arsenal’s players and declared his respect for Wenger, he has no doubt as to who the Gunners’ danger man is.

“Mesut Ozil is a top player. I know him very well because he played in Madrid. He was a fantastic player in Germany. He is a big talent – good passes, good vision.

“His team-mates from the national team explained to me that he is a good trainer and a good guy, so we have to control him. The best way to control him is when Bayern have the ball,” said Guardiola.
