Pep Guardiola compares himself to a woman as future Manchester City manager claims he can multi-task
Pep Guardiola has dismissed suggestions that his announcement as Manchester City manager will distract him from his immediate focus at Bayern Munich. The Catalan quipped that he can multitask like a woman, and can think of both managerial assignments at once, without it hampering the results of his current job at Bayern Munich.
Guardiola was in an unsually forthcoming mood at his press conference, and joked about his feminine side, saying “I’m like a woman, I can do two things at once. I can control both situations. I can think about both situations. It is not a problem. I have a big talent for this.”
With Bayern having an 8 point lead in the Bundesliga, the Catalan has a lot of leeway should things go awry, and with rumours of a reported ‘unrest’ in the dressing room doing the rounds, perhaps that lead could disappear quickly. Guardiola’s announcement as Manchester City manager might make things difficult for him as the dressing room of the Bavarian giants might not regard him with the same authority.
Bayern Munich haven’t been in such a situation before and Guardiola acknowledged as much, saying “I know it has never happened before, a manager leaving Bayern. Normally Bayern leaves the manager, but we have four months.”
Guardiola hits out at German media
Aheaad of his side’s next game against Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich’s current boss was in a rather confrontational mood, as hit out at the press for their emphasis on his Manchester City move and eschewed questions about Bayern Munich completely.
Guardiola alleged a lack of respect and claimed he was only present at the press conference to fulfill an obligation, saying “Us managers get no respect whatsoever in the world. It doesn’t matter what we say. I am here, OK, because I have to be here. There is no more respect for managers.”
The Catalan also criticised the press for their focus on the rare occasions in which Guardiola has been critical of his players, also dinging the press for their obsession with off field matters, saying “Why don’t you write about the many nice things I say about the players? There are media outlets here in Germany that haven’t asked me a single question about football since I got here. I don’t know why managers even give press conferences any more.”
