Pep Guardiola says no other club can play like Barcelona

Pep Guardiola looks on as his old club Barcelona defeat his current club Bayern Munich

Legendary ex-Barcelona midfielder and coach, Pep Guardiola said he hopes Barcelona would go on to win the La Liga despite their recent run of poor form. He added that the club was unique in the sense that no other club could play like them.

Referring to the match against Valencia, which Barca lost 2-1 in spite of having a truckload of scoring chances, the current Bayern Munich manager said, “When you watch the Barcelona game against Valencia you realise that nobody plays like them”.

Guardiola stated his opinion saying, “I still think that no one can play at that level. They have a unique and special way of playing football which will last for many years to come and, hopefully, they will go on to win the league title."

Admitting that Barcelona were favourites to win the league, he said, “They can win the league because they have more options than anyone else, they are first. But can they lose? Yes, of course.”

Guardiola hopes Barcelona win La Liga

Pep Guardiola had overseen a hugely successful period in the Barcelona’s history, winning 3 La Liga titles and 2 Champions League titles whilst winning the treble with them in 2008-2009. His all-conquering team, in fact, won all five trophies it could win that season. His Barcelona team are generally accepted to be one of the best and most successful club teams of all time in football.

Barcelona had been going through a poor run of form in the past few weeks. For the first time in years, the Catalans had managed to lose three games in a row in the La Liga and blew a twelve point lead at the top of the table.

Luis Enrique's men had managed just one win in five games prior to last night’s 8-0 win against Deportivo La Coruna where they reaffirmed their title credentials in a dramatic return to form.

They are currently equal on points with Atletico Madrid but lead the La Liga table because of their better head to head record. Arch rivals Real Madrid are just one point behind in the race with just four games to go in what is one of the closest La Liga title races in years.

Acknowledging the strength of the competition that Barcelona faced in order to win the La Liga, Guardiola said, “The other teams are also very good. What an I say? Hopefully, Barcelona wins the league as that is what I desire, but football is so wonderful and anything can happen."
