Pep Guardiola made personal phone call to persuade Alexis Sanchez to join Manchester City
According to reports from Chile’s El Mercurio, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola made a personal phone call to Alexis Sanchez to convince him to join the Citizens in the summer.
Alexis Sanchez has been on fire for Arsenal ever since signing from Barcelona but even more so this season having been played through the center. The 27-year-old has taken to the striker's role this season like a duck to water and currently leads the Premier League Golden Boot race - tied with Chelsea's Diego Costa - with eleven goals.

He showed his prowess in front of goal as recent as this past weekend when he scored a sumptuous hat-trick against London rivals West Ham at the Olympic Stadium. And Pep Guardiola wants Alexis Sanchez at Manchester City to add some more flair into his side – and score more goals.
Sergio Aguero remains the only sole attacking option Manchester City have with no viable backup in the squad and the Catalan manager is convinced Alexis Sanchez can be the player who can transform the Citizens into a world-class team capable of challenging on all fronts.
Alexis’ history with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona will not matter
Pep Guardiola famously fell out with Alexis Sanchez at Barcelona but is willing to put those differences aside if it's to ensure his current employers see tangible results. Manchester City currently sit in fourth place four points behind leaders Chelsea and only a point behind Alexis Sanchez’s Arsenal.
Alexis Sanchez’s contract with Arsenal expires at the end of next season and the Gunners are scrambling to tie him – and Mesut Ozil – to new contracts to ensure they’re able to spend the rest of their senior football years in North London. Manager Arsene Wenger is convinced he’ll be able to do it by the end of the current season – hinting multiple times in the past few months that they’re working their socks off to tie the former Barcelona and Real Madrid men down to new deals.

Arsenal are where they are this season due to the efforts of the tireless Chilean. His influence on the field is so much more than scoring goals and the stats back him up. With thirteen goals and nine assists in nineteen appearances in all competitions this season, Sanchez is currently one of Europe’s top forwards.
And he’s in high demand not just in the Premier League with the likes of Juventus, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Paris Saint-Germain all interested in signing him should he think twice about extending his deal with Arsenal.
