Petr Cech compares himself to Star Wars character Darth Vader
Petr Cech might seem like a serious fellow on the field, but off the field the Arsenal goalkeeper surely has a sense of humour. In light of the recent release of the seventh movie of the Star Wars franchise, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, the 33-year-old put up a hilarious picture on Twitter showing his metamorphosis into the infamous Darth Vader.
Back in 2006, Cech, while playing for Chelsea, suffered a horrific head injury in a collision with Reading’s Stephen Hunt. Even though he took to the field a long three months later, it was with a specially-designed protective helmet, which has, now, become synonymous with the former Chelsea goalkeeper. Over the years, he has not played a single match without the required protective headgear due to insistence of the medical professionals.
Famous fictional character from George Lucas’ superhit movie series Star Wars, Darth Vader, appears as a cyborg, with his costume including a full-blown metallic helmet. The movie shows that Darth Vader was forced to wear this after he, as Anakin Skywalker, nearly died in the aftermath of his fight with his mentor, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin, then, underwent a plethora of operations which made him part-cyborg and doomed him to the outfit.
Cech mocked himself on Twitter by saying that he will eventually have to dress up as Darth Vader.
