PFA offer anger management counselling to Luis Suarez

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, 26, apologized for his indefensible behaviour on Sunday, in a match that finished 2-2 at Anfield. The incident occurred midway through the second half which saw Suarez in a tangle with Ivanovic in the penalty area. He then proceeded to bite the Chelsea defender on the arm.

Referee Kevin Friend did not see the incident at the time, so the Football Association is set to open an investigation into the matter, while according to the reports in Sky Sports, Ivanovic will not file any charges.

It is not the first time Suarez has bitten an opposition player; the previous biting incident took place in Holland when he played for Ajax.

Now, PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor said the players’ union will offer the striker professional help to deal with his anger.

Taylor said: “There is no doubting his football ability, that’s why it is so disappointing and embarrassing when he lets himself down.

“We have to work hard on anger management now. We have trained counsellors in this field and we will be offering their services to Liverpool and the player to try to improve matters.”

It was not just his antics that made news, as Suarez also scored a 96th minute equalizer to snatch Liverpool a draw that dents Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the top four.

Chelsea though had led twice through Oscar and Eden Hazard, while Liverpool pulled back the score on both occasions courtesy Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez.
