Phillip Cocu: We're prepared for anything
PSV Eindhoven boss Phillip Cocu claimed that his team are “prepared for anything” ahead of their clash with AC Milan for the second-leg of their Champions League qualifier. The first leg of the playoff finished 1-1.
The Italian club only need a goal-less draw to advance to the competition’s group stage but Cocu is confident his side can pull off an upset.
“Playing at home is different to being away,” Cocu said. “We played a good game in Eindhoven and are confident we can also do well tomorrow in Milan’s stadium.
“It is a wonderful moment for me as well as the team, as being able to measure yourself up against a side like Milan is great.
“This brings tension, but it is a positive tension, a sensation you need in football. My job is also to help my players to experience and use this pressure.
“We are prepared for anything. I don’t know how Milan will approach the game, whether they will defend or attack. In such an important match with so much at stake, anything could happen.”
Milan will be bolstered with the presence of Brazilian forward Robinho and youngster Mattia De Sciglio after the duo got a clean bill of health for the match.
However, Cocu is filled with hope after Milan fell to a 2-1 defeat to Hellas Verona in their opening Serie A match.
“Milan have the luxury of being able to choose between great players,” Cocu said. “We have to step on to the field knowing we must control these players.
“Did we see Milan’s defeat to Verona? Yes, we watched it.”
