Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang challenges Usain Bolt for sprint showdown

Calling Bolt for a challenge

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is no joke when it comes to sprinting down a football pitch at a lightning speed. The player now seems overly confident about his speed and sprinting ability as he openly challenged the fastest man on the earth, Usain Bolt, for a one to one showdown to decide who is faster.

In the league of fastest footballers of the world, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the undisputed champion followed by the likes Theo Walcott, Antonio Valencia, Gareth Bale and others. His speed is literally a no match for other footballers in the circuit which makes him one of the most dangerous attackers in the world.

Having previously run 30m in just 3.7 seconds during training in 2013, which is eight-hundredths of a second faster than what Bolt achieved over the same distance during the Jamaican's Berlin 100m world record sprint seven years ago, Aubameyang thinks he can easily out do Bolt. In an interview with CNN, the Borussia Dortmund striker challenged the king of track, Usain Bolt, for a 30 m sprint.

“I'm waiting for you man. I hope to see you one day, and let's do this challenge!”

Bolt still remains the fastest man as he defended his Olympic gold medal successfully in the Rio Olympics 2016. With nine Olympic golds in total over three Olympic appearances, he is considered as a living legend. His record of 9.58 seconds in a 100m dash still stands tall and is something remotely achievable for others.

Reacting to the Aubameyang challenge in a sporting gesture, Bolt, the man who always seems to be super cool, said in a CNN interview ahead of the release of his biopic ‘I am Bolt’:

“People are always trying to call me out. He knows I'm going to win ...”

Whoever wins, it will be a remarkable treat for the football fans to see these two go head to head over a 30m sprint. Bolt has admitted that he will bid adieu to his running career in 2017. The World Athletics Championship, set to be held in London next August, will be his last participation.

The possibility of the Aubameyang-Bolt showdown might not be a distant dream for the fans as Bolt will be in Dortmund after the World meet in 2017 to train with the German side. Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has himself confirmed that Usain Bolt will be coming to train with the Bundesliga side.
