Pique expecting first child with Shakira

Washington, Sep 20 - Spanish and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is soon to become a father. His singer girlfriend Shakira said she was pregnant.

The 35-year-old Colombian Shakira, who’s bowing out of a music festival in Las Vegas this weekend, wrote on her website that they are expecting their first baby but declined to specify a due date, reports Xinhua.

“At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days,” Shakira said Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Pique first met Shakira in 2010 and confirmed their relationship in March 2011.

He will be out for two-three weeks after hurting his left foot in his side’s 3-2 win at home against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League, the club announced earlier.
