Pogba trolled by Chelsea star John Obi Mikel as he welcomes him to the Premier League
Paul Pogba has been on a high ever since he put pen to paper and returned to Manchester United for €109 million. Quite the social media star himself, fans from all over the world have reached out to him with messages to express their excitement for the future. Fellow football players have also extended their congratulations to the Frenchman for this historic transfer.
However, it’s John Obi Mikel who took Twitter by storm when he posted his own special message for the 23-year-old. The Chelsea midfielder bashfully trolls Pogba on Twitter and gives him a Premier League welcome.
The Nigerian captain has been in the Premier League for a long time, seen many highs and lows and perhaps knows better the mercurial nature of the league Pogba has signed up to play in.
Mikel sent out a brutal tweet that's sure to have brought the young star back to earth.
Welcome back to the @premierleague @paulpogba - looking forward to facing you again my friend #EPL pic.twitter.com/Rt0bFcgnFO

The tweet was a unique welcome message - it includes a video of John Obi nutmegging an even younger Pogba at an international friendly between Nigeria and France in 2014. The hapless reaction from Pogba is priceless and any United fan who sees this video will be hoping he has left those days behind.
The video proves that even Pogba isn’t immune from the occasional slip-up and a €109 million tag doesn’t preclude a player from mistakes and embarrassment on the pitch.
Pogba was unable to start or even make an appearance for the Red Devils in their first match of the season due to a one-game suspension that was carried over from Coppa Italia. The news came as a huge shock to fans and management alike.
However, the team wasn’t much affected by his absence as they managed a comfortable 3-1 victory against Bournemouth.
While Chelsea fans were absolutely delighted with Mikel's tweet, United fans will be waiting to see how Pogba replies, if at all he does. Maybe Pogba will even get the chance to nutmeg Mikel, this time around, albeit on the pitch.
Pogba will have to wait his turn though as the Nigerian captain is currently leading his team in a successful Olympics campaign so far. Mikel and his side are set to face Germany in the semi-final in Rio later this week.
