Premier League 2017/18: Newcastle 3-0 Chelsea - Player Ratings

Newcastle United v Chelsea - Premier League
This could well have been Conte's last Premier League game as a Chelsea manager

Goal scorers: Dwight Gayle (23'), Ayoze Perez (59', 63')

It was a shambolic performance from the Blues this afternoon. It looked more like Newcastle were battling for the 4th spot and Chelsea were just happy to be playing Europa League next season.

No desire, no intent, no passion...Chelsea had nothing to offer for their fans in the last game of this season. They might as well just forfeit the FA Cup and save themselves from another humiliation. People save their best performance for the last but the Blues did just the opposite.

Newcastle, on the other hand, did everything right, right from the beginning. After losing their last 4 games, the Baggies started pressed high from the 1st whistle and kept the visitors in their own half for the most part of the game. Rafa Benitez's sides ran riot today as he saw his side comfortably beat his former club 3-0.

Here are the Player Ratings from the game.

Newcastle

Newcastle United v Chelsea - Premier League
The Baggies humiliated the visitors and completely tore them apart.

Martin Dubravka - 8/10

This is the kind of performance that has made the club and fans wanting Martin to stay. Martin wasn't troubled much but he made a terrific save from Barkley when his side was 2-0 up.

DeAndre Yedlin - 6/10

Yedlin didn't have much to worry about today as most parts of the game was played in Chelsea's half. With the visitors struggling for the ball, Yedlin had a quiet afternoon.

Jamaal Lascelles (C) - 7/10

The captain lead the team from the front. The Chelsea attackers hardly troubled Newcastle's backline but Lascelles was the first to react when they did.

Florian Lejeune - 7/10

The centre-back had an easy game this afternoon as the visitors hardly pressed high to trouble their keeper.

Paul Dummett - 6/10

Just like the other defenders, Dummett had a relatively easy game today. Without any presser from the visitors, Dummett had a relaxed afternoon.

Matt Ritchie - 7/10

The winger caused problems for the visitor's defence, as he was always on the move and looked dangerous while on the ball.

Jonjo Shelvey - 8/10

Shelvey got the better of Kante in the midfield today. Running, getting the ball moving forward, winning challenges, Jonjo did everything right this afternoon.

Mohamed Diame - 8/10

Along with Shelvey, Diame had a good game in the center of the park. With Chelsea's midfield looking below average, Diame had no problem running around the field and dominating it.

Jacob Murphy - 7/10

His pace came in handy as he troubled Chelsea's back three throughout the game. His crosses and pace seemed to get the better of Azpilicueta a lot today.

Ayoze Perez - 8/10

2 goals in less than 5 minutes sealed the game up for his side. A cleaver 1st goal by Perez and he slightly nudged the ball to put it back into the net, and the 2nd was a result of poor defending from the visitors.

Dwight Gayle - 6/10

Courtois did well to push Murphy's ball but Gayle found it and headed it home to give his side the lead as he scored in the 23rd minute but was then taken off just minuted after the 2nd half started in what appeared to be an ankle injury.

Substitutes:

Joselu - 6/10

Coming on for Gayle, Joselu was lively and full of energy, eager to get a goal under his belt.

Isaac Hayden - 6/10

Coming on in the 72nd minute, Hayden didn't offer much but saw the game out.

Massadio Haidara - N/A

He came on in the last 3 minutes of the game.
