Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Arsenal, Player Ratings

<p>
Promise, his mouth was open when he headed the ball.

Rarely has there been a North London derby where the game ended scoreless and today was no different. A delightful Ben Davies cross presented Harry Kane with an easy header who made no mistake in dispatching it and securing all three points for his side.

Arsene Wenger was forced to make a change bringing in Mohamed Elneny for the injured Aaron Ramsey but it didn't matter who the Gunners had in midfield for Tottenham won almost all their battles in a spirited well-fought second half.

Here's how the players fared at a record-attended Wembley Stadium:

Tottenham

Hugo Lloris - 7/10

Only had to make the one save from Arsenal's first shot on target thanks to a curling Jack Wilshere effort but was otherwise untroubled all game.

Kieran Trippier - 7/10

Another solid performance from the former Hull City full-back, his link-up play with Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen was exceptional at times.

Davinson Sanchez - 7/10

Kept Arsenal new gun silent all night with his strength and his catch-up speed but was well protected by his midfield to be called into any last-ditch efforts all game.

Jan Vertongen - 7/10

Easily one of the best centre-backs in the game currently and his passing into midfielders and his forwards is really impressive and getting better by the game.

Ben Davies - 8/10

Was silent in the first half keeping Mesut Ozil in check but his cross to find Harry Kane in the second half was exquisite.

Eric Dier - 8/10

Won nine of his eleven duels in the midfield using his strength and his height. Should've scored at least once given he had the chances.

Moussa Dembele - 9/10

Single-handedly ate Arsenal's midfield alive. Dembele's calm composure on the ball and his strength and timing of steals when chasing is world-class. Set the tempo for the way his side played and will be glad to have his injury problems behind him.

Christian Eriksen - 8/10

Another masterclass in attacking football from the Dane. Eriksen continuously linked up with Dele Alli and Harry Kane and just knew what to do and when to do it.

Dele Alli - 6.5/10

Not his best of games given he didn't contribute as much to his side going forward. Didn't take a single shot on target and otherwise let the game pass him by with missed opportunities.

Heung-Min Son - 6/10

Everywhere he looked, he saw Hector Bellerin. Nothing he did worked against the Spaniard and was taken off in the second half.

Harry Kane - 7/10

Took his goal well but had a plethora of chances to score and didn't fully utilise them and punish Arsenal. His work rate is immense and the way he holds on to the ball is also brilliant.

Substitutes

Erik Lamela - 7/10

Made some great runs after coming on for Son and did get into the festive derby mood with some good old-fashioned swearing and gesturing towards Arsenal's Jack Wilshere in particular.

Victor Wanyama - 6/10

Had six minutes to replicate his thunderbastard from against Liverpool but couldn't do it. Shame.
