Premier League 2018-19: Everton vs Manchester City, match preview and predicted lineups
The Premier League title race is getting hotter and as Liverpool shook hands with West Ham United on Monday with a draw, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City will be hoping to extend their points and chase the trophy.
City travel to Liverpool to play Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday in a game which is crucial to both sides. The former are looking for their sixth win in their last seven league encounters against the Toffees while Marco Silva's men will be hoping to put behind their 3-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Leading the lines for Manchester City will be Argentine forward Sergio Aguero who got a hattrick in his last match against Arsenal at the Etihad on Sunday. If he is not rested, Aguero will be looking to make inroads into a shaky Everton defence led by Michael Keane and Kurt Zouma.
Aguero will be helped by Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on the wings. German attacker Sane was not required by Guardiola against the Gunners but there is a high possibility that he will play against Everton.
Belgian star Kevin de Bruyne looks in ominous form and has been creating magic in City's midfield. Fernandinho has been back to his defensive best and Bernardo Silva, who is more likely to start the game over Algerian international Riyad Mahrez, has been in fine nick.
Everton's woes have been compounded with their defenders being outrun by almost every visiting side and there has been no respite for Seamus Coleman and Co. Andre Gomes struck a wondergoal against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend and has been a rock in the center of midfield. Supporting him are young Tom Davies and the versatile Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Richarlison will add to the attacking prowess of the Toffees and hope to add more goals to his tally for the season.
