Premier League 2018/19: How Manchester United could line up against Southampton
Manchester United face Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday on the back of a crucial 3-1 away win against Crystal Palace. This could prove to be a very important fixture as Arsenal, who are currently placed 4th in the Premier League table, face Tottenham Hotspur and could drop points in that fixture.
Manchester United have been dealing with many injuries and they may be without Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Anthony Martial for this game too. This again gives an opportunity to the youngsters like James Garner, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong, who may be involved on Saturday.
Also, Manchester United play Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League after this match, so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might have one eye on that match.
Here's how Manchester United could line up against the Saints:
Goalkeeper: David de Gea
David de Gea failed to keep his 4th consecutive clean sheet against Crystal Palace, but will be looking to make amends against Southampton. The Spaniard has always done very well against the Saints and is expected to come to the party yet again.
Left-back: Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw has been in brilliant form of late, probably his best since joining Manchester United from Southampton. He got himself an assist against Crystal Palace last match day and will be looking to continue his rich vein of form against his former employers.
Center backs: Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could decide to rest Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof against Southampton before their crunch game against PSG in the Champions League. Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo might get a chance to impress their manager if they get the nod.
Right-back: Diogo Dalot
Diogo Dalot started against Crystal Palace in the previous fixture on the right wing, but this time he may start at right-back. Ashley Young could be rested keeping the Champions League game in mind.
